So, belatedly, how about a little popslash festive cheer? Put up a prompt for a fic you'd like to read, and let's see what happens! And, if you can, grab a prompt or two and get writing.

Please put your popslash prompts as comments to this post. As soon as possible, so as to give potential authors a chance to mull—although to be fair, a good deal can be written in a couple of hours if you are determined enough.

You will need to specify:

- character(s), ie members of NSYNC and/or Backstreet, but as long as you include at least one of these, you may ask for non-popslash characters as well
- pairing (assuming there is one)
- something about what you would like. It's okay to say 'on the bus' or 'first time' or 'a wine tasting evening', or you can go into a lot more detail if that is what you really want to read. I guess we will find out who responds to detailed prompts and who takes a vague idea to story level, yes?

If you want some ideas about how this works, have a look at the sparkly_glee comm or fic_requests on LiveJournal.

Please post each prompt as a separate comment.

Incidentally, if you don't have time to write a fic, you are still welcome to put up prompts. You may inspire a story out of someone else! Similarly, if you can't think of a prompt, you are very welcome to write a story in response to one. Please do!

I think we'd better make things as easy as possible, so I'm not going to set a minimum length for responses. If the spirit moves you to write several thousand words, well, \o/, please leave a link in comments to your journal, or AO3, wherever you choose to post it. If the spirit moves you to write one hundred exquisite words, well, \o/ and you may post it as a reply to the prompt, or in your own space, as you prefer.

You may post your response anonymously if you wish, but it isn't necessary.

I'm also not going to restrict this to one answer per prompt. If someone puts up a prompt that strikes a chord, and gets three fics in response, that's three fics for us all to read! \o/ Obviously it would be nice if everybody gets at least one fic in their stocking, but this is not a Secret Santa Story Exchange.

Incidentally, if you have a story to post and it wasn't actually inspired by a prompt… well, let us know, okay?

I'm not going to impose the MTYG 'NO KILLING OUR BOYS' rule - but don't kill anyone unless the prompt actually asks you to, please. And I think we're all too grown-up to do this, but—no character bashing. It's Christmas. Love one another!

I'd meant to open this on 1st December but Life got in the way, so here we go. Responses can be posted at any time up until January 6th.

Any more details I haven't thought of?

A CHALLENGE!

See, I miss popslash during the year, but it still flowers at Christmas time due to the incredible longevity of the SeSa challenge.

And I've noticed that the MTYG stories are less and less likely to have Those Scenes in them (you know the ones I mean). Therefore, it seems like a cool idea to have a 'hot' challenge to liven up our summer (or, for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere, our winter).

So, how about signing up to write the steamy sex scene(s) from your MTYG story?

It could be the scene that happened just after the story ended. Or something from the middle that didn't need to be told but would be a very nice out-take. Or something from... six months along, three years later, whatever. You can keep the story going, or provide a good old-fashioned PWP, up to you.

You don't even need to pick up the story from the most recent MTYG. Any story you've written for MTYG is a candidate!

There isn't a natural deadline, so I'm going to ask people to pick a day in August on which to post the story. Can you do it? Of course you can! And you can tell the other people who've ever written for MTYG that this is happening, can't you!

Despite obviously not getting it right in my last Kink Meme post, I'm going to combine two again today, this time we have:

Certain places such as dungeons, prison cells, interrogation room, offices (add your own if you have one I didn't mention)

and

Uniforms (school girl, nurse, military uniforms etc.)

What do you think of these? Ever written them as kinks? Read any cool stories using either?

There's a Trope/Kink meme going around which I thought might make a nice basis for discussion, so I'll try posting something every day, maybe even two a day, and see what you all have to say. What I'd love to see is, firstly, your opinion of the particular kink, whether it's something you look for and enjoy, or dislike, or are indifferent to. And, perhaps, whether you've written or read any stories that would qualify for it, and if so, did you write them with the kink in mind or was it just coincidence?

Okay, so, a popslash challenge? Something quickish and fun, maybe?

I've had a few ideas, so let me know if any of these appeal, or if you have alternative suggestions.

(a) story prompts to be left in comments, and authors to roll dice to determine pairings

(b) post a picture as a prompt, someone claims it and writes something

(c) anonymous recipient challenge, in which you tell your allotted author what to write!

(d) a subject-of-the-week challenge for February

(e) Fabulous Feb? Everyone signs up for a day. I can do optional prompts for several days of the month, and a couple of month-long prompts too, if wanted

(f) songfic challenge - of what kind?

Commenters and betas!

So hi, everyone!

I've been wondering... what kind of commenters and betas would our boys make, if they were part of fandom?

I'm thinking thus:

Lance a hugely enthusiastic commenter about everything featuring his chosen pairing (C-Bass) (encourages Justin/Kevin too, for nefarious reasons) and ever so heavy on the exclamation marks. No-one in their right mind would ask him to beta.

Joey enthusiastic about *everything*, and about as articulate as a Newfoundland puppy with a keyboard. He probably doesn't know what a beta is.

AJ would only comment on PWPs.

JC would be a great feedbacker as every comment would be at least a paragraph long. He'd actually be an honest and perceptive beta, too, very useful once you have figured out the translation from JC to Earth-human.

Cheeks demands more snark and more smut, come on, honey, give me *details*!

Adam really good at picking out the choice bits and praising them, unwilling to criticise plot failures and dodgy characterisation. Great commenter, not so great as a beta (but ego-boosting) unless you can persuade him you *really* want his opinion.

Justin was singing along with the radio – a pretty awful indie song off some college rock station. The shitty Honda that Chris was driving had a busted radio, and the only thing that had come on before was an NPR marathon of Shakespeare performances. They’d lasted through about twenty minutes of King Lear as performed by John Lithgow before Justin was jabbing at the presets rather viciously.

He and Nick were half way across the parking lot when AJ spotted the person sitting on the bench outside of the restaurant. "You've got to be kidding me." AJ mumbled under his breath, wondering if he should just forget about eating and just go get on the bus. Probably not a good idea, it was a long ride back and they wouldn't be stopping again. Nick didn't even glance at the person on the bench, too busy rummaging through his backpack as he walked.

Lance shaded his eyes and looked back over Chatsworth House. He still didn't quite get what the photographer thought he was up to, some babble about juxtaposition of the new and the old, but since a pretty laid-back photo-shoot at a gorgeous English estate was far from the worst way to spend a day "off" between shows, he wasn't complaining. They'd spent some time pretending to be highly choreographed wood nymphs or something, and then been turned loose.
